Smart Infrastructure financing announcements will be made on April 26th

2018 Smart Infrastructure Challenge

Local, state, and national leaders will convene in Cincinnati, OH on Thursday, April 26th where announcements will be made about financing and resources to accelerate the development of smart cities and communities as a part of the 2018 Smart Infrastructure Challenge.

The grant, funding, and financing details of the 2018 Smart Infrastructure Challenge will be made public this week, where leaders are expected to announce funding and financing available for public and private sector development projects that leverage smart and connected technologies.

Other announcements related to the Infrastructure Challenge will include the addition of federal agency partners, resources for responding teams, and an extension to the deadline to submit a Letter of Intent (May 31st) to participate given the addition of new financing tracks.

Venture Smarter has not yet released dollar amounts, but has made public that Smart City Capital, Smart City Infrastructure, and the National Infrastructure and Investment Alliance are involved. The company also announced on Tuesday a new collaboration partner for the challenge in the United States House of Representatives by way of the Congressional Smart Cities Caucus. These efforts compliment activity in the Senate such as the Moving First Act, and its relative coalition.

The Infrastructure Challenge announcements will be made in Cincinnati, OH at the Second Annual Smart Cincy Summit, which serves as a regional thought leadership conference highlighting smart city success stories, challenges, and opportunities to collaborate. The event will welcome speakers and leaders from The City of Cincinnati, The State of Ohio, The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments, The Department of Commerce, The Department of Homeland Security, and many other governments, organizations, businesses, and research institutions.

The event will begin at 9 A.M. EST and last until 3 P.M. EST. Featured speakers will run from 9-10 A.M. EST ahead of panels and workshops.
