GE and AT&T have formed an alliance via a M&A agreement to drive digital infrastructure for smart cities and utilities through the AT&T IoT Solutions Group. Through this alliance, Jamie Sullivan moved back to AT&T as a badged employee from GE along with a number of other resources. Jamie's role is to drive and influence digital solutions for smart city and utility customers in the AT&T and GE ecosystem. The alliance gives AT&T exclusive rights to GE Intelligent City technology in the U.S. and Mexico. Jamie also leads other activities that focus on enterprise vendors who need API data solutions to solve enterprise problems using IoT industries like insurance, banking, and real estate.
As a part of the Intelligent Cities group within GE, Jamie helps bring the Industrial Internet to municipalities. There is a tremendous opportunity for communities to build intelligent environments with brilliant machines to reach desired outcomes of better community safety and service and GE is leading the way. Through big data analytics and a one of a kind platform, GE is partnering with application vendors to bring together an ecosystem of solutions that will solve many of the problems large municipalities face today. GE's Predix data analytics platform will be the plugin for applications and customers to leverage existing data to find the desired outcomes or insights to improve traffic, safety, reduce crime, improve city services and detect events before they even happen and a whole lot more. GE created the Industrial Internet to leverage the intelligence of operational technology for improved performance and management in many industries and now brings it to the government. As well GE has started Current, a startup division within GE to bring together electric vehicle, solar, energy storage and management to bring the entire industrial world of energy control and components together. This will accelerate the growth of energy solutions and platforms to further mature the market for energy management and distribution.
