Anil Menon is global president of the Cisco Smart+Connected Communities (S+CC) business unit, which provides the Cisco Smart+Connected Digital Platform and key solutions that transform the delivery of urban services in cities and facilitate data sharing across city agencies, with citizens and with businesses. S+CC integrates with the Cisco Country Digitalization Acceleration (CDA) initiative to transform entire nations in their optimization and delivery of infrastructural services and data sharing.  

Anil sets vision and sales strategy for S+CC and orchestrates its transformative partnerships and market-making investments. He drives the development of its portfolio of powerful technologies—developed with our partner ecosystem. The Cisco approach helps cities transform the way they oversee and deliver urban services—including smart lighting, parking, transportation, water and waste management, healthcare, education, safety and security and more—to become more efficient, sustainable and livable.

Anil also provides executive-level sponsorship for CDA programs in Russia, South Korea, Israel, France, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, and India.

Prior to joining Cisco, Anil was corporate vice president of strategy in Growth Markets at IBM, where he also held other critical global strategy, product management and marketing roles, including an appointment by the CEO to serve on the IBM Strategy team.

Anil was co-chair of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Agenda Council (GAC) on the Future of Cities and participates in the GAC Future of Health. He serves on the board of directors for the Center for Customer Insights at the Yale University School of Management and is on the advisory board for the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School. He is also a member of the Board of Governors for the Manipal University TM Pai Management Institute.

Anil served as a Sony fellow in Business Strategy and Innovation, served on the advisory board for Coca-Cola’s Fizzion technology incubator, and has consulted extensively with many other global companies in the areas of strategy and innovation. He has also served on the executive committee of the Council on Strategic Planning at the Strategy Planning Institute, an international business think tank originating from the Harvard Business School.

Anil holds a Ph.D. in marketing and statistics and was on the graduate faculty in marketing at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Anil has recently returned from a multi-year assignment in Bangalore, India, and once again resides in the U.S. near Orlando, Florida.
