The Venture Smarter team comes from the White House, U.S. Senate, State Department, U.S. House of Representatives, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), innovative technology companies, and other leading organizations. We are mission-driven and passionate about playing a key role in building smart cities, connected communities, and leveraging technology to improve people’s lives.


Mitchell Kominsky

Chief Strategy Officer, Co-Founder

After serving as senior counsel to US Senate Leadership working on emerging technology and national security matters, and as the author of various cybersecurity laws, Mitchell has been a leader in the technology sector leading strategy for early-stage high-tech startups. A graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Ignite program, Mitchell is an innovator for emerging technologies. Full bio.


Rhonda Binda

Chief Governance Officer, Co-Founder

Rhonda is a technology lawyer, P3 expert and formerly a Deputy Director at the U.S. Department of State. She has also served for several administrations as a White House policy official. She is a visionary smart city evangelist with hands on experience in public and private sectors. Full bio.


Zack Huhn

Chief Executive Officer, Co-Founder

Zack is Chair of the IEEE Smart Cities Standards Committee; and is dedicated to building smart cities and connected communities. Zack was recently recognized as a Top 50 Global Leader in Smart Cities by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Foundation's Global CSR List, and locally as a Next Nine Community Leader by WCPO. Full bio.


Vice-President of Operations

Jamie Sordo is Vice-President of Operations at Venture Smarter and leads special projects and initiatives such as the 2018 Smart Infrastructure Challenge.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Business Management - Entrepreneurship from the Farmer School of Business at Miami University. Director of Technology

Fyodor Minakov is the Digital Products lead at Venture Smarter where he oversees the development and maintenance of Intelliscope. Fyodor is a graduate of Columbus University and began his career at Morgan Stanley before working with prominent data centric companies like Enstoa and DemystData. Full bio.


Junior Vice-President of Operations

Alex Hurley leads Venture Smarter’s Energy and Resilience practice and is Junior Vice-President of Operations.  Alex recently completed a Master of Science in Environmental Studies degree from the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs at Ohio University in Athens. He is dedicated to supporting governments, businesses, and universities that are researching, building, funding, and/or deploying smart, sustainable solutions. Full bio.
