Fulton County, NY endorses water accords

JOHNSTOWN — A Fulton County Board of Supervisors committee on Wednesday endorsed two separate, 40-year SMART Waters intermunicipal agreements with the village of Broadalbin and the city of Johnstown.

The lower municipalities have already signed off on the agreements. The full Board of Supervisors looks to give its final seal of approval on the agreements at its July 9 meeting at the County Office Building.

“SMART Waters is working,” county Planning Director Scott Henze told the board’s Economic Development and Environment Committee Wednesday at the County Office Building.

SMART Waters has been an ongoing program by the county the last few years to extend water and sewer services outside the Glove Cities to further development in the county.
