Ohio and OSU Invest in $45 Million SMART Center

The state of Ohio and The Ohio State University are investing $45 million to build the first phase of the Smart Mobility Advanced Research and Test (SMART) Center, located at the Transportation Research Center. This one-of-a-kind facility will be used to test autonomous and connected vehicles in real-world environments. 

With 540 acres, the SMART Center will feature an urban network of intersections, roundabouts and traffic signals; a rural environment that includes wooded roads; and a neighborhood that allows testing at slow speeds.
