Venture Smarter is leading efforts behind the IEEE Smart Cities Technology and Planning Standards Committee to create secure, agile, and resilient standards and certifications for solution providers and solution seekers.
Leaders from government, academia, and business gathered Tuesday, Dec. 12th at the New York Bar Association for a leadership forum aimed at setting smart city development goals in NYC and beyond. Featured speakers led dynamic conversations that continue today on and offline with passionate guests.
Over 700 regional stakeholders - with backgrounds in Academia, Business, and Government - came together as one aligned organization to tackle the region's most urgent issues at the Smart Regions Conference. The event featured Keynote speaker Anil Menon, Smart City Workshops, Drone Races and the first ever Midwest IoT Showcase.
Venture Smarter launched Regional Smart Cities Initiatives in 2016 to connect smart city projects city to city, state to state, and region to region. RSCI educates and aligns stakeholders around available resources and addressable opportunity areas,encouragingg leaders to drive conversations forward leveraging best-practices technology and planning standards focused on interoperability and resilience.
Defeating the digital divide starts with connecting the 4 billion people that lack access to basic internet today. Venture Smarter is working on Advancing Internet Inclusion with IEEE, Global Connect Initiative, World Economic Forum, and other industry partners.
Venture Smarter hosted the Smart Cincy Summit on April 25th, 2017 to launch Smart Cincy, a Regional Smart Cities Initiative in Greater Cincinnati. Guests included Cincinnati's mayor, city manager, several members of city council, county commissioners and other local and regional leaders.
Venture Smarter launched and finances the Smart Cincy working group, which represents academic, business, government, and community leaders in and around Cincinnati, OH that are dedicated to building a smart city and connected communities throughout the region. Smart Cincy hosts regular roundtable and leadership events and an annual thought leadership summit.
In New York City Venture Smarter worked with state, city, and neighborhood leaders to pilot Digital Districts efforts aimed at defeating the digital divide for residents and businesses. Before we can build smart cities we must lay down a foundational layer of equitable connectivity and access. That is the focus of Digital Districts in NYC.
Newport KY brought smartLINK and other Venture Smarter partners to town to install Smart City Kiosks and provide businesses and residents with free public WiFi and wayfinding solutions. The project is self sustaining and is being used to finance other smart city related projects throughout the city's neighbhoroods.
On June 22nd Venture Smarter brought industry partners and experts together to explore smart city technologies and the young entrepreneurs using technology as a tool to improve outcomes for people in the developing world. Venture Smarter hosted the event with the World Bank Y2Y community.
